Wednesday 1st May – Walk *** Extended circuit of Felixstowe – sunny
periods.
I was tempted to go away for a night in the van to visit Sutton Hoo with
our new National Trust membership but the weather forecast not great and
then a friend came to mend our light pull in the bathroom so will do that
another time. Then I was going to Christchurch Park to see Rodens ‘The
Kiss’ but when I checked it finished over the weekend so we decided to
stay in Felixstowe. I had to post my faulty GW-60 a gps watch back to the
Netherlands as they had agreed to send me a replacement so started off
going to the post office on the cliff top before heading down to the spa
gardens and then out onto the prom. With a slight breeze coming off the sea
it was a bit nippy but that hadn’t put people off and there were several
people about including open water swimmers, stand up paddle boarders,
yachts and even a smelly jet ski! We passed the workman putting down a new
black surface on the prom and a bit rough it was too:( We carried onto the
end of the prom at Jacobs ladder and decided to continue along the beach
before reaching the next section of prom. It was quieter along this section
and at The Dip we turned and walked back along the cliff top. There are
several large houses being built mainly in back gardens including a huge
three storey monstrosity that amazes me how they ever got planning
permission! We were getting our 6 mile legs as we walked through town and
home for yummy scrambled egg after covering 4 miles!
